I have loved clowns for a majority of my life now, finding joy in their mannerisms, and inspiration in their dress. Visually they have always struck a chord with me and though creating this look did require heavy visuals, my model also reminded me that clowns have more to them, they have stories. They’re fully fleshed out characters, living dolls with real emotions. This is a curse as beautiful as it is heartbreaking. In “Faire Le Clown, Est Un Don De La Vie” which roughly translates to “Clowning is a gift of Life “ you will see three different clowns from different time-periods. Their styles and makeup are different, the way they act and behave are as well. But what ties them together is creation, heartbreak, and longing.
